Musket Arrow Experiments
Based on various written descriptions from the late 16th and 17th centuries and a woodcut in The Complete Soldier by Thomas Smith, 1628

 Loading the charge. A normal charge of about 30 grains of black powder was used. A double wad was used to assist sealing the charge.  Squeezing the fletching to fit the barrel.  Pushing the arrow down on the charge.  The pan was primed and the musket aimed low in case the arrow rose.  Take aim.  Give fire. The arrow left the barrel faster than any of us have ever seen an arrow move before.
